Outdoor Climbing Wall

The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute has constructed indoor as well as outdoor sport climbing walls for the young trainees taking training on mountaineering through modern techniques. The out door sport-climbing wall is built in accordance with the international standard, measuring 50ft high & 20ft wide. The Institute has already hosted the 7th National Sport Climbing Competition & has acquired the capability to host an international one.

The indoor artificial wall has been named after Lt. Col. A.S. Cheema, former Principal, who climbed Mt. Everest in 1965. The wall has both panel & rock surface with removable synthetic holds, which offer the flexibility of route. Being indoor, it remains functional even during the monsoon months of the year. The Institute has now also started sports climbing courses for young children (12-18 years) on this wall. The wall is also utilised for training - Basic, Advance & Adventure courses.
