The Jayal Auditorium can accommodate more than 150 students at a time. It is used for lectures, demonstrations & also to show various training films to both students & visitors.
Hitler's Telescope
A rare collection of Veb Carl Zeiss Jena Telescope is kept in the Institute. This is a 200X power telescope that sweeps the Kangchenjunga range-a gift, as the plaque proclaims, presented by Adolf Hitler to Maharaja Judh Shamsher Jung Bahadur Rana, the Commander-in-Chief of Nepalese army. It was passed down to his son General Shamsher Jung Bahadur Rana, who presented it to the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute on 7th July 1961. |
